Florence Redd thought she knew the answers to the questions: Are you active? Do you exercise? Are you fit? However, when she joined the Small Group Personal Training program (SGPT) in April 2018 at the Ciccotti Center, she knew she had to make some changes.
“I knew I wasn’t as active as I had been. I was feeling sluggish, less energetic and I was slowing down because my daily activity pattern had changed. I also had gained 10 to 12 pounds and wanted to change that before it got out of control. I still exercised twice a week using the same routine I had used for years but it wasn’t helping with my increased inactivity and weight gain. In addition, about six weeks into the SGPT sessions I learned that my cholesterol level was slightly elevated. My doctor gave me a choice — drugs or exercise and diet. No drugs for me, I thought. I knew I needed a change!” said Florence Reed.
Florence committed to two sessions a week and made small changes to her diet. She chose this program because she tends to do best in small groups with an instructor (trainer) and thought it would be helpful because she had never done this kind of workout routine before.
“The program is well-planned and comprehensive (not single-focus), based on the latest fitness science, executed effectively and efficiently. The sessions progress in stages so you’re not overwhelmed and have lots of diversity (not boring). The fitness trainers are great! I never thought I could (or would) move in some of these ways. But I do and I like the challenge,” said Florence.
At the end of the first six months Florence was very happy with her results:
“If you find gyms overwhelming or intimidating (as I do) or you’re looking for something new or different, I strongly recommend the SGPT program combined with regular assessments. Even if the small group program doesn’t sound interesting and you’ve worked out regularly I still recommend using the assessments because it will show you where you are currently and show you how to move forward. Use it to talk with the fitness trainers when you have questions or want suggestions or as you choose a new class. The results may make the time you spend working out more efficient and effective. What do you have to lose?” said Florence
