Carey Ann Connors became a member of the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center in 2017. Connors lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for 17 years and was overweight. Still, she always maintained an active lifestyle: running multiple 5Ks annually and working out with her children at baby boot camp three times per week. Connors’ biggest challenge was completing a workout uninterrupted by her kids. Her workouts became unproductive and stressful.
After moving back to the capital district, Connors joined the center after hearing about its phenomenal child care services and supportive staff. She stepped out of her comfort zone by trying different group exercise classes and instructors from cycling to Body Blast. Then, she began training with center fitness specialist Brittany.
“She helps me strengthen, build and define my muscles,” said Connors. “She encourages me when I have self-doubt and gives me an extra push to reach my health and fitness goals.”
Last May, Connors completed a half marathon which was one of the fitness goals she set at the beginning of 2019. She attributes her success to Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center’s guided programming, encouraging staff and inviting atmosphere.
